Rumour: Valve working on a new IP called “Star of Barathrum”
Take with this silo sized grain of salt, but according sources inside Valve, the company behind Half Lifes, Portals, TF2 and DoTA is working on a space simulator named “Star of Barathrum”. It seems concept art has leaked showing futurstic cities and space cruiser and battleships among other things. The source says it plays like Privateer/Freelancer space sim. No official word from Valve about this nugget of news. Speaking of Space Sims…
Star Citizen raised almost half a million dollars.
It seems Chris Robers (creator of the Wing Commander series) new game “Star Citizen” has raised half a million dollars. The precise number given to this time is $455,590. It’s been said that most people contributing to the project are buying the RSI Constellation Spaceship, which is worth about 250 dollars. Ever since the Star Citizen trailer that was released during this week, hardcore PC gamers have been hyped about the ambitious title. The trailer promised an open world experience in outer space with multiplayer factions. It will be interesting to see what will happen in the future to this ambitious title.
Hawken closed beta to start from Oct.26-29.
Closed beta for the F2P mecha shooter will begin on Oct 26-29. Meteor has said the problems encounter during the open beta will be fixed in the closed beta. Hawken will release on December 12th
Insomniac wants fans take Overstrike seriously
Insomniac Studios has said that they want fans of the developer to take the game’s universe seriously. Previously called Fuse, the game seemed to mix cartoony violence with modern weaponry. When the tone of the game was changed, many fans seemed to bitch about the change. The dev has said the game will have fantastical elements but is still sticking with realism portion.
Borderlands 2 has sold 1.4 million copies according to NPD
The figure given doesn’t count the digital copies sold on Steam/PSN. It didn’t sell better than Madden 13 but it did well enough to give the green light to a Borderlands 3.
NBA Baller Beats has sold 3,000 physical copies according to NPD.
This despite EA cancelling it’s own NBA game for this year. It’s not quite shocking that it sold so piss poorly. People have apparently praised the game for it’s creavity. The sales numbers may jump with Black Friday and it being the only NBA game for this year.
